NYC 3ds Max User Group: Manageable Solutions for Dynamic Foliage and Tight Deadlines

Our first event of 2014 will be held at the Manhattan Autodesk office space located at 38 West 21st Street on the 9th Floor, New York NY 10011.

Manageable Solutions for Dynamic Foliage and Tight Deadlines
 
Kim Lee will be presenting some techniques recently applied for shots in an upcoming National Geographic series.  He will examine workflows used for populating and animating foliage blowing in the wind for moderate scale environments without resorting to software packages like Vue.  Topics covered will include creating grass in Maya and bringing it into 3ds Max, cheating dynamics on geometry and bitmap foliage,  harnessing Point cache, Vray Proxies/MR Proxies,  using Object Paint to place foliage,  and various tips to consider when optimizing render times of foliage.
